There's something magical about my moms birthday. I don't know if its because I am extremely close to her or if its how she celebrates life. As long as I remember celebration was and still is one of the most important things to our family. We will have any excuse to celebrate to gather around each other to live and laugh.
but regardless my moms birthday is almost like the feeling you get on Christmas... its always something we look forward too.
every year we can we go to antelope island to celebrate it.
and this year was no expectation. we had sloppy joes on the beach with cupcakes for dessert.
We ran and played in the sand and enjoyed the warmth of the sun on our shoulders.
Now the main reason we go to antelope island is to go on this certain hike to be in the BEST spot to watch as the sun sets.
This is a little bit of a hike and this year I took Wyatt for the first time.
Thank goodness for Papa's shoulders and the gorgeous view that took away the thought of "will Wyatt be able to make it to the top."
but to my surprise he enjoyed every bit of it. he pretty much hike it all on his own besides every once and awhile being carried by papa.
As we got to the top you are surrounded with the overwhelming beauty of the lake mountains and the feel of the sun.
We hike around as we waited for the sun to start to set. we found caves and just enjoyed the view and each others company.
And as the sun set we gathered to one rock watching the little boys run and explore as we made small talk. we talked of the beauty and the love we have for each other. the random memories and then sat in silence as the sun touched the water.
the fondest memories I have of my parents are the billion pictures we take each year of them kissing in the sunset. the love they have for each other is something that is only told in fairy tales. I could not ask for better parents.
The sun set and the moon came out
and we made are way down the mountain anticipating what it will look like next year.
