Grandma’s Garden

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance.  They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life.  And, most importantly, cookies.”  ~Rudolph Giuliani

My mom watches Wyatt every Saturday for me when I go off to work and each time I feel like there is never any need to worry about him and his well being because my mom is exactly how I am when it comes to raising children and I know this because I learned from the best.

Last Saturday I worked a short day so me and my mom took the grandkids on a trip which usually means that I will stay at my moms until its dark talking about anything and everything but what I enjoy the most is watching her with Wyatt.

This day she taught Wyatt how to garden.

She showed him how to turn on the water faucet to put the water inside the watering can.

Of course with this being Wyatt first time really trying it he turned the water on full blast…

Which was hilarious.

He soon got better at it.

My mom has so much patient and is such a good teacher that I sometimes become a little jealous of how Wyatt becomes so intrigued with what she is telling him…

He looks up to her so much and I do even more.

“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do.  Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.”  ~Alex Haley

After watching my mom with Wyatt on this day I was reminded of these photos that I captured the other day…

Just watching the love that my parents have for each other and then watching that spill abundantly over to Wyatt makes me smile more then anything else.

So I just want to say that MOM you are TRULY the best grandmother and mother that any one could ask for.

I am so glad that Wyatt has these days with you because you will enrich his life more then I can even imagine because I look at mine and am baffled at how well you have raised me to become an independent STRONG women and I could have never gotten through ANYTHING if it wasn’t for you cheering me along the way. So I just want to thank you again and again for watching, teaching and loving my son.

and me as well.

Thanks mom I love you.

The best baby-sitters, of course, are the baby's grandparents.  You feel completely comfortable entrusting your baby to them for long periods, which is why most grandparents flee to Florida.  ~Dave Barry

  3. here it goes:

I see the most lovely, dark eyes that seem to wear an expression of endless curiosity and awe at the world around you. I see soft skin and rosy cheeks. I see a girl who can really pull off a short, spunky haircut. I see your beauty as a family trademark; especially tying you to your mother. I hope that this beauty reminds you of the women that came before you and helps you to feel all the love that brought you to life. I see a remarkable prettiness and audacity, shining from your head to your toes.

    You are lovely,
    Megan
